YARD SALE-Fundraiser A Success!

On Saturday, June 9th, the weather cooperated as we held the New Perceptions Yard Sale Fundraiser! We made nearly $1,700.00 thanks to the hard work of Sean and Misty Haas, who organized this event!

But wait! There is more to the story of this event...The items that did not sell were donated to Metro Harvest Church of God in Cincinnati, OH. They, in turn, will hold a yard sale fundraiser to help the youth of the inner city, and they, in turn donated 10% of their proceeds back to us as well!

The yard sale was such a great success; we plan to make it an annual event! So start thinking about what you want to donate for next year!

Thank you to all of the staff, clients and supporters, who donated items, shopped and spent their cash! We could not have been successful without those who worked loading, organizing, setting up, cleaning up, or assisting with this event! THANK YOU!

FLYING PIG '5K FOR A CAUSE'

By Cindi C. Burton

1st Annual Hope & Possibility 5K

We wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you that helped make the 1st Annual Hope & Possibility 5K a success for the Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky area this year. Saturday, May 5th, 2007, New Perceptions was involved through RHC (Resident Home Corporation), and are already planning for next year to engage more people to get involved and to grow this event to over 1,000 people! Local organizations were represented by over 400 people who wanted to be a part of greater Cincinnati's first-ever event of this nature for people with and without disabilities to come together for a physical challenge event.

The dedication and enthusiasm of the NPI participants was evident as they tried to bring awareness of the organization to the community in this very popular event. David Hoffman, Site-based Adult Services Division 2 Manager, carried the New Perceptions, Inc. agency banner with his son Alex, joined by wife, Marybeth, and daughter, Elizabeth. Thank you also to Kami Lerma, our Children's Services Physical Therapist, who also brought her family and friends to partake in this great event! Kudos to each of you!

And remember...where there is hope, imagine the possibilities! RUN * WALK * SUPPORT

Spring 2005 Events:

Pre-Derby Gala
All are Winners at the New Perceptions Pre-Derby Gala!
On April 29th, New Perceptions kicked off Derby fever with its 2005 spring fundraiser, "Win, Place or Show...Everybody's a Winner at the New Perceptions Pre-Derby Gala!!" held at the Radisson Hotel in Covington.

Mr. Jim Wycoff, host of The Jim Wycoff Money Hour on 55KRC, was the evening's emcee. He had an easy time convincing guests what a wise investment it is to support New Perceptions!

A silent auction tempted guests with jewelry, sports memorabilia, trips, event tickets, and other great items. Guests could also try their luck on several raffle prizes. Mrs. Bonnie Leap was the lucky winner of the $1,000 cash prize. Mr. Tony Zembrodt won the lovely Maggie Valley Resort golf vacation in North Carolina donated by Mr. Timothy Schoonover. Mr. Brad Abbott won a beautiful 14kt. white gold diamond pendant donated by Herzog Jeweler. Mr. Wayne Bach won the $250 cash prize.

Adult Services clients Marianne Moore, Billy Bach, and Tim Adams showcased their artistic talents and graciously offered their artwork for bid at the silent auction. Also included were two photographs by Joe Hardin, an adult client who passed away earlier this year. Joe had a wonderful photographic eye and his works are a testament to his talent and to his love for animals.

This year's event included a hat contest for the ladies and a gentlemen's tie contest for the men. Contestants collected cash "votes" from guests. The contestant with the most votes in each category was declared the winner with all proceeds going directly to the children and adults of New Perceptions. Mark Schenthal, Director of Communications & Public Relations for the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, took first prize in the men's tie competition. Kimberly L. Guffey, Licensed Massage Therapist, won in the ladies hat contest.

Regardless of who won on Derby day, it was apparent that all were winners at New Perceptions' Pre-Derby Gala! The evening would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors. Special thanks to Graydon Head & Ritchey LLP, ISOC.NET, Brad Zapp of Lincoln Financial Advisors, Roeding Group Companies, Inc., Bob & Nancy Zapp, Reed L. Coen, Steve Bridewell of Prevail Design, Promark Company/OI Partners, Inc., Strata-G Communications, Stith, Wimsatt, & Associates, CPA's, Mr. James Wycoff of 55KRC's "The Jim Wycoff Money Hour", ImPak Graphics, John M. Vicki's Family Finish Line

RiverWalk
New Perceptions (NPI) joined with the Newport ItalianFest in celebrating the tradition of family, community and good fun with their first annual RiverWalk on Saturday morning, June 12, 2004 at Newport on the Levee. The refreshing morning walk began at Brio's, traveled throughout Newport on the Levee and finished at the Newport ItalianFest where participants enjoyed games, rides, and of course delicious Italian cuisine.

Chris Montello and Family

"The RiverWalk was really fun, it was a great way to start my day, a comfortable walk in a beautiful setting, surrounded by my friends and family," said Chris Montello, NPI's Board of Directors President. The RiverWalk was not a timed event, but rather a family-friendly walk to promote awareness and inclusion of people with special needs, while helping to support the programs and services offered to the children and adults of New Perceptions.

The RiverWalk was definitely family-friendly; especially for the family of Vicki Wagner, NPI Adult Services client and RiverWalk Co-Chair, over 20 of Vicki's loved ones joined her on the walk and raised over $1,100.00 in her honor. Vicki and her family also won the prestigious title of Top Team Fundraiser.

Dr. Jim Claypool and Goering Couple

Spring Gala
New Perception's (NPI) second annual Spring Gala - "A Salute to Seabiscuit and Human Perseverance" was held on Saturday, April 24 at Turfway Park in Florence. It was a beautiful evening at the track and the guests were dressed in their best Derby attire, ladies in their hats and men in their blazers. The Kentucky inspired feast was delicious and the stories told by Dr. Jim Claypool were rich with the riveting history of horse racing and left the guests eager to learn more.

State Senate candidate Kathy Groob and her husband Jeff Groob, of Fort Mitchell, were in attendance and one of the evenings big winners when their raffle ticket was drawn for the 4ct. Diamond bracelet donated by Herzog Jewelers (Pic). Joyce Leach, of Lakeside Park, won the $1000.00 cash drawing. Guests departed the event with arms full of fun purchases from the Silent Auction tables that included items such as Mint Julep baskets, autographed sports memorabilia, and art work that was created by NPI clients.

Groob Bracelet Seabiscuit Poster

The evening was a huge success for NPI and its clients, raising over $75,000.00, which will help support the programs and services offered to children and adults with developmental disabilities and mental retardation. "You don't throw a whole life away just cause it's banged up a little," a fitting line from the movie Seabiscuit, illustrates the spirit of the special needs children and adults of NPI.
