TARGET POPULATION
  • Infants with developmental disabilities from birth until three years of age for all services or up to four years of age for comprehensive evaluation only.
  • Adults with developmental disabilities over the age of eighteen.
SERVICE AREA
Boone, Campbell and Kenton counties as well as Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Owen and Pendleton counties in Northern Kentucky.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
Children's Services (400+ children served annually)
  • The Home-Based Early Intervention Program offers weekly in-home sessions with developmental interventionists and occupational, physical, and speech therapists as needed. Families are involved so that activities may be repeated with the child on their own time.
  • The Sensory Integration Program offers specialized, unique stimulation services to children with a variety of disabilities. For children dealing with "sensory defensiveness", therapists work to help the child integrate with, respond to, and explore his or her environment in a more effective way.
  • The Community-Based Early Intervention Program, operated in conjunction with the Kid's Place Preschool in Ft. Wright, prepares two-year-olds for their transition into public school at age three.
  • Intensive "Arena" Evaluations, in conjunction with the Cincinnati Center for Developmental Disabilities, offer comprehensive diagnostic evaluations from our professional team, which consists of a developmental pediatrician, a developmental specialist, and occupational, physical, and speech therapists. Findings are discussed immediately with the caregiver(s) and a written report details the next steps for the family in providing the best treatment for the child.
Adult Services (300+ adults served annually)
  • The Community-Based Supported Employment Program offers job placement and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health issues, long term dependence on government assistance, and other barriers to employment. In-depth, one-on-one support from Placement Specialists enables clients to learn necessary job skills, including how to find work, techniques to cooperate with co-workers and supervisors, and how to best succeed on the job.
  • Project Employ - A collaborative effort with St. Elizabeth Medical Center and the Kenton County School to Work Transition Program to provide evaluation, training and ultimately employment in a medical setting.
  • The Site-Based Employment Program provides work every day in assembly and packaging jobs, as well as the opportunity to learn diverse work skills and increase independent functioning skills.
  • Project Change - offers transitional employment opportunities for Site-Based client employees so that they may experience employment in the community. This helps to build a diverse résumé to move into the Community-Based Supported Employment Program.
  • The Life Skills Program offers older adults with disabilities the opportunity to transition away from full-time work in the Site-Based Employment Program so that they are able to set and achieve personal, recreational, and social goals. The program encourages them to participate in community activities.
  • The Student Work Experience Program allows juniors and seniors with disabilities from area high schools the opportunity to experience work in our Site-Based Employment Program to see if they are interested in this type of employment.
